With the same function as our standard adjustable gas plug this version replicates the original appearance of the early World War 2 single slot gas plug. Perfect for owners of early serial number Garands.
By adjusting the volume of gas in the cylinder it changes the speed of the op-rod and controls the harmonic vibration of the barrel. Our plug softens the blows on your op-rod and wear on the bolt lugs. Made specifically for use with heavier bullet weights and hotter reloads. Even if you only shoot your M1 once in a while make it last a second lifetime. Made from Hardened Tool Steel & Parkerized. NOT LEGAL FOR "AS ISSUED" GARAND MATCHES.
To make installation of your gas plug extra simple, use our M1 Wrench Set.
INSTRUCTIONS:
READ THIS FIRST: Unload firearm before making any adjustments! You will notice that the setscrew in the Gas Plug may be very tight and will not easily turn by hand. Once installed in the rifle it will become much easier. The setscrew comes at a factory set position, air will easily blow through it. The rifle WILL NOT FUNCTION at this position. Use it as a starting point, then screw in as necessary until rifle begins to function.
Installation: Remove existing gas plug, and replace with your new adjustable gas plug. Start with setscrew at the factory preset position. Turning the screw about ¼ turn at a time, tighten screw, and fire until the rifle functions reliably with your particular load. If the adjusting screws seems to loosen , install the hollow locking setscrew and tighten against the original screw locking it in place. Locating your Rifle’s sweet spot requires some trial and error. Once rifle is functioning properly, try turning the setscrew 1/8 of a turn at a time and fire a few rounds. Repeat until best group is found. Some shooters like to scribe a small line on the setscrew itself, and use it as a marker for identifying plug position (i.e. 3 o clock).
*Since handloading operations are beyond our control, we disclaim all liability for any damages which may result.

Just installed my Adj. Schuster M-1 plug in my M-1, adjusted it and it works great. Thank you..I feel a lot more comfortable now shooting my antique rifle.

I needed an adjustable plug so my BM-59 would stop ripping the rims off ammo. From the very first shot it cured my problem. I never write reviews so I must be happy.

Used this adjustable gas plug on my James River Armory BM 59. I installed it, shot and adjusted it until I had the rifle running smooth as butter. I shot Aguila 7.62 x 51mm 150 grain FMJBT.
Why that ammo? Because this ammo is available at my local gun shop in loads and he always has it so getting it to shoot well in this rifle means I am good to go. Thanks Schuster!

With most surplus ammo gone; this is the perfect time to purchase the Schuster gas plug. My 1942 SA Garand was calibrated with just 3 1/4 turns. Well made product, great customer service and quick delivery!

I have the Criterion limited production 6.5x55 M1 barrel installed. Swedish ammo and equivalent reloads use relatively slow burning powder, compared to GI issue M2 or M72 ball. In order to prevent excessive port pressure, I installed a Schuster gas plug. It functions perfectly, and took only three shots to adjust for reliable cycling.
(Why a 6.5x55 Garand? I like the Swedish Mauser and its ammo, and I like the Garand. Best of both worlds, and it shoots beautifully.)

I installed it and finally got to the range to dial it in. It took 3 turns to function properly and I had no problems with ejections.
